New "My Gallery" Tab

I've been playing around with Just So Scrappy's digital scrapbook kits a lot lately. I am a creative artsy person and it's been fun playing with a new medium. I've also been making a lot of cards (paper not digital) lately and I'd like to have one place to put everything I've made. Ok, so not EVERYTHING but some I'd like to share with the world. So, I've decided to add a "My Gallery" link at the top of the page to give me a place to share these things. I hope you enjoy! We can all use a little inspiration right? :)

Here's a sample of whats there:

Muffin Day

Today was muffin day! he he. I'm not really a "cook one meal at a time" type person. I like to cook up big batches of food at a time. So today is "muffin baking day". They're cheap, easy, and so many options...not to mention YUMMY! I store them in the freezer and just pop them in the microwave for breakfast. My boys love them and actually eat ALL their muffin! I can't say that about too many other "healthy" breakfast foods! I ended up baking 4 dozen muffins (a dozen of each flavor) today!!! That will give us breakfast for a while! My favorite muffin recipe is Bacon and Cheese Muffins. This is my mother's recipe...sooo yummy!!!

Two Blog Trains going on right now!

This first one is super sweet...litterally! The kit is called Sugar Shock and oh so cute!! It's Sugar Hill Co.'s first blog train. Don't forget to leave some comment love for them!

The second is the Creative Sweeties annual blog train. Their blog train is a little different then most. Instead of a matching kit that each blogger contributes too, this one is made up of all random pieces. Each blogger makes something for us out of their favorite kit

*A blog train is where a group of bloggers get together and provide links to each other's blog where they each post on a common theme. For these blog trains, digital scrapbook designers have gotten together and created digital scrapbooking pieces (papers, embellishments, alphabets, etc.) for us to download from them for free. The idea is to promote each other's blogs and also give us something nice in return.

Grosgrain Blog

A GREAT way to save money, on clothing, is to make them yourself. Don't have the skills (or the time)?? Here's a even better way to save money! Buy clothes at a thrift store (read CHEAP) and alter them to fit you (and your style). If this sounds interesting to you, you have got to go check out Thrift Store Thursdays at the Grosgrain blog! While you're at it, go check out her video tutorials. It will help you learn a few sewing techniques. Be sure to check out her gallery of clothing she's sewn herself before you go. She's an awesome seamstress! Beautiful work. And the pictures are AMAZING!!!

Check The Blog

If you're interested in the digital Scrapbook stuff I posted about in the last post, then be sure to check the blog for updates to that post. I will add additional sites when I find them. I have already added another one today. Happy Scrapping!

I have updated the look of the blog yet again (Yes, I have trouble making decisions! he he). I think I have finally found what I want to use. It is actually a blend of two layouts. Just the perfect amount of chaos & cuteness! I hope you like it!

Free Digital Scrapbooking Supplies

I have SO much to tell you guys! Seriously, I have ideas running through my head all day to write, but when I finally get to sit down and write them, I can't remember what they are!

Okay, first of all, I've found a LOT of digital scrapbooking stuff lately for FREE & really cheap (just price, NOT quality!)!!! And I found a free editing software that is pretty good. Not to say that one of the more popular softwares that you pay for wouldn't be better, but for free, it's pretty stinkin' good! The software is

Now, to the scrapbook stuff sites...
Free Font Sites:
**Bonus Tip: At both of the Kevin and Amanda pages, along with the sugar frog fonts and abecedarienne pages, there is a button for downloading all the fonts at once. HUGE time saver!!!**

If you know of any I haven't added, PLEASE leave the link in a comment! Everyone loves free!

Ok, that's all for today. Hopefully I can get on some more soon and write some more! Have a great day!

Healthy Energy Snacks

I have a big day of shopping ahead for me tomorrow. My back was acting up today so my planned grocery shopping (with the boys) didn't get done AND I already have plans to go shopping with a girlfriend that afternoon to get supplies for a group we're in. So, I'm definitely going to need some serious snacks packed! Here's some good lists for cheap & easy snacks that are high in energy. I thought I'd share them with you in case I'm not the only one needing some serious energy this week. All the articles I chose either had great selection of food items or had a great description of why these items work.

Cheat Sheet for Parent's of Toddlers

In case you sometimes get stuck in ruts of what to do with your toddlers like I do, here's a nice list of ideas!

Cheap and Easy Way to Make Artwork for the Wall

If you're like me, you want to have a beautiful nursery/toddler room, including artwork on the walls, but can't find any that's cheap enough to suit you. If so, then the thought of making it yourself has also crossed your mind. I found a great video today on how to stretch canvas across a frame that I thought would be perfect for doing with pretty fabric as well. Go here to see the great how to video! Another option is to buy a "used" canvas from a thrift store and stretching fabric across that (if getting it stretched correctly seems intimidating to you). Either way would save you some money and still get you that beautiful room! And of course you could do this for any room in your house depending on the fabric used!

Let me know how it turns out if you try this project (either variation). It's on my long list of things to do, but I will let you know how it goes for me too, whenever I finally get to doing it!

Cooking Tip: Biscuits & Bread Sticks

Last night I was making biscuits for my husband to take to work today. I rolled out the dough and cut the first batch of biscuits. But as you may or may not know, you aren't supposed to re-roll out the dough to cut more. So what are you supposed to do with the rest of that yummy dough? My choice: to make bread sticks.

I just used a pizza wheel to cut the rest of the dough into strips (after re-rolling it out). I then twisted them and rolled them in Parmesan cheese. I cooked them the same temperature as the biscuits, just for a minute less then the minimum time. Yummy!

New Combined Blog Coming

I've been trying to figure out what to do with the two parts of the blog for some time now. I put all of the info on the parents & kids section and this part gets neglected. And there's a lot of stuff I want to write that doesn't quite have a place at either of the blogs. I have all these ideas during the day but when I sit down to post them, I can't figure out which place to do it. Most of the time, I end up posting nothing.

I have decided to merge the two blogs. This will become a mom blog about going green in many aspects of life while saving some green. It will contain the same info as before but it will all be in one place, along with other things that were not able to be included before. The one blog will carry the same name as this one, and will be hosted here at this address. Stay tuned for the revamp and more information. Thanks for sticking with me through the downtime.

Taking a break...sort of

I haven't writtin much on here lately because I've been more actively writting on the sub section of this blog, Parents & Kids. Go check it out sometime! Right now it's got a lot of giveaways listed on it. To get there, click Parents & Kids Home at the top of this blog.

I'll come back here from time to time to write things that are applicable to non-parents, but right now my focus is on that area of my life.

Have a great day! : )
